Dignity Health Yavapai Regional Medical Center Announces Opportunity for Non-Profit Organizations to Apply for Grants Improving Community Health. Prescott, June 18 – Yavapai Regional (YRMC) is inviting local non-profit organizations to consider applying for grants that support the delivery of services vital to improving health and well-being, and improving health equity. The application period opens June 17 and runs through August 16, 2024. Successful applicants will be announced in December for projects conducted between March 2025 and February 2026.
DPS Remembers Fallen Trooper and Firefighter Alan Hansen
DPS is remembering fallen Trooper and firefighter, 34-year-old Alan Hansen, who was killed on this date in 1973. Hansen died of injuries sustained 2-weeks earlier when a railroad tanker loaded with butane exploded in Kingman. As Hansen pulled up to the scene, he swapped out his DPS uniform for his firefighting gear and was one of the first firefighters on scene. Alan and 10 other Kingman firefighters worked to spray the tanker with water in an attempt to prevent an explosion, but tragically, the railroad tanker exploded. In all, 13 people were killed; 11 of those were Kingman firefighters. An additional 112 people were injured.

BRIX Holdings Enters Four-Unit Franchise Agreement in Arizona, Missouri
Dallas — Dallas-based food-and-beverage franchising company BRIX Holdings LLC has entered into an agreement with franchise owner Richard Stassi to open four new units in Arizona and Missouri. Stassi will open three Smoothie Factory + Kitchen and Red Mango co-branded shops within the next three years in metro Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona. The first of the units is scheduled to open in early 2025. Franchisee Gary Patel signed the fourth deal with Stassi and will open a Red Mango store in Kansas City, Missouri, in early 2025, marking the first entry into the state for the brand. BRIX also owns the chains Friendly’s and Orange Leaf and recently acquired Clean Juice.

The first Fiesta Sports Foundation Preseason All-State Football Teams will be celebrated at an in-person event at the Arizona Bank and Trust Fiesta Sports Foundation Football Kickoff on Aug. 15 at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. The teams include 29 tackle football boys and 21 flag football girls.
