Shoplifter runs into high school to avoid police
FAIRFAX, Va. — A wanted shoplifter ran from police into a high school in an attempt to evade police Tuesday afternoon. After stealing a shopping cart full of products from the Fair City Mall, an outdoor shopping mall, Kodjo Banks was found by Fairfax City Police outside at around 12:47 p.m. Banks, 41, fled across the street, where he entered Woodson High School through an unlocked door.

Night Watch Urgent Care, a pediatric healthcare center in Falls Church, is starting a free tutoring program called Brain Boosters. Night Watch is located at 7263 Arlington Blvd, Suite F, in Graham Park Plaza. It’s open 10 a.m.-midnight on weekdays and 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on weekends. F.C. Copperheads Finish 5th in Nationwide Little League Tournament
The Falls Church Copperheads, a team of twelve-year-olds from the Falls Church Kiwanis Little League, achieved an impressive 5th place finish out of 104 teams in their final tournament in Cooperstown, NY. Competing against teams from over 30 states and Canada, the Copperheads finished with an outstanding 7-1 record, bowing out in the quarter-finals. The team tallied 19 home runs, a .405 batting average, and 75 hits, while defensively generating 45 strikeouts and holding opponents to a .270 batting average with dominant pitching and spectacular defensive play.
FOCUS summer program marks a decade of engaging middle-school girls in STEM
George Mason University’s popular FOCUS outreach program marks its 10th anniversary this summer and continues to expand its science and tech immersion programs. FOCUS stands for Females of Color and those Underrepresented in STEM, and when the camp is in session, the middle schoolers and their counselors can be seen moving around George Mason’s Fairfax Campus in their brightly colored t-shirts as they immerse themselves in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) activities from coding and building a robotic arm to viewing distant planets at the Observatory.
