Motorcyclist killed when he collides with dog in the road, North Carolina cops say

A motorcyclist was killed when he encountered a dog standing at a curve in the road, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

The biker was identified Fabieus Mark Myers, 55, of Hays, North Carolina, officials said.

Investigators say the collision occurred around 2 p.m. Thursday, July 11, near the Wilkes County community of Roaring River, about an 80-mile drive northwest from Charlotte.

“A 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling north on Bethany Ford Road and struck a dog in the roadway,” officials said in a news release.

“This collision caused the driver to lose control of the motorcycle. The motorcycle overturned, ejecting the driver..”

Myers died while he was being taken to a hospital, officials said.

Details of the dog’s fate were not released.

The area where the crash occurred is two-lane, rural and has an extended curve that obscures the road ahead, maps show.
