Hawks to host tournament June 14-16

The Hayward Hawks Baseball Club will host the six-team Chippewa Valley Bank Northern Lights Tournament Friday through Sunday, June 14-16, at Larry Somerville Field. The schedule is:

Friday:

Hawks vs Holmen, 7:30 p.m.

Saturday:

Minneapolis Cobras vs. Hartford, 11 a.m.

Windfall Lake Loons vs. Cobras 1 p.m.

Holmen vs Eau Claire Bears, 3 p.m.

Loons vs Hartford, 5 p.m.

Hayward vs Eau Claire Bears, 7 p.m.

Sunday:

10 a.m.: Semifinal game

Noon: Semifinal game,

2 p.m.: Championship.

The Hawks opened their season with a 4-3 win over the Brill Millers on June 1 at Larry Somerville Field, rallying to score three runs in the bottom of the ninth to win.

Tom ‘Danczyk had three hits including a two-run single in the ninth. Josh Kanters had two hits, Micah Bacon had a double and Phil Zeigle and Terry Kilmer each had a single.

Tom Danczyk went the distance on the mound to pick up the win, giving up seven hits and no earned runs, striking out four and walking none in nine innings.
