    Canes girls soccer honored for season

    Hayward Hurricanes girls soccer players were honored by coaches, parents and the Heart O’ North Conference for their efforts and accomplishments this past season at an awards picnic Tuesday June 4 at the Town of Hayward Park pavilion.

    Coach Anne Kriskovich said “It’s been a lot of fun, a great time and amazing to get to know the girls as individuals. They’re part of my family now. They did their best, worked hard and left everything on the field.”

    Hurricane players chosen to the Heart O’ North All-Conference team this season are:

    Second team: Abby Beckermann, Kendra Gunn.

    Honorable mention: Miya McKay.

    Receiving Hurricane team awards were:

    Hustle award—Elsa Maki, Abby Beckermann; Coaches’ award—Most Improved Player—Olivia Stobb; Most Valuable Player—Kendra Gunn.

    The coach presented letters to:Freshmen: Alyse Beckermann, Alivia Beckwith, Abby Beckermann, Kelsey Carothers, Annie Hardaker, Elsa Maki, Kylie Mattmiller.

    Sophomores: Madison “Maddie” Paquin, Olivia Stobb, Miya McKay, Kendal DeCora.

    Juniors: Leigha Krym, Arnica North, Stephanie Galde (manager).

    Seniors: Kendra Gunn, Cassidy Judy.

    Coach Kriskovich, who also serves as Hayward athletics and activities director and assistant principal, announced that she is leaving the Hayward School District this year as she has accepted a position as principal for the Solon Springs Schools.“It was a very difficult decision as I have truly enjoyed my time here, met a lot of great people, built a lot of great relationships,” Kriskovich said.
