Tennessee man faces drug charges after multi-county pursuit
A Tennessee man faces drug and other charges after a high-speed pursuit from Trigg County into Calloway County Monday morning. The Trigg County Sheriff's Office said the operator, 26-year-old Lemonte Newsome of Hendersonville, Tennessee, led officers at speeds around 120 mph as they pursued Newsome along US 68 into Calloway County.
Chamber Awards presented at Business Celebration
MURRAY – The Murray-Calloway County Chamber of Commerce presented its Chamber Awards last Friday at its 97th annual Business Celebration. The event always closes with the big three Business Awards, but also involved six other Chamber Awards in other categories. Master of Ceremonies Jeff Bidwell said that each year, the chamber recognizes outstanding businesses and individuals in the community, with nominees submitted by other businesses and individuals.
Headliners look forward to weekend comedy fest
MURRAY – The headliners for this weekend’s Kentucky Comedy Festival have nearly 70 years combined experience in making audiences laugh. The Kentucky Comedy Festival will be inside the auditorium of Murray State University’s Wrather Hall at 7 p.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday. Several comedians are on the bill, but Saturday’s headlining act is Jeff Allen and Friday’s is Mike Armstrong.

Estadt siblings finish strong BGT season
LOUISVILLE — Murray golfing siblings Maggie and Tommy Estadt have completed the Bluegrass Golf Tour’s Western Kentucky points race for this season. Maggie, who played in the Girls 12 & Under Division, won its points race. Maggie amassed 737 points over six events on the Tour and that was enough to outpoint Roxie Wilson of Cunningham in Carlisle County for first place.
