    Man dead after coal processing incident in Hazle Township

    HAZLE TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man is dead after being trapped under coal at a coal processing station in Luzerne County.

    Hazle Township Fire and Rescue were dispatched around 10:54 p.m. on Thursday to the 400 block of Stockton Mountain Road for a technical rescue, where a man was trapped under coal from the station.

    Potentially rabid fox attacks, bites two in Snyder County

    A release states that fire crews called for a trench trailer and additional manpower to assist with the rescue.

    The Luzerne County Coroner Jill Matthews identified the victim as 44-year-old Brian Brotzman, and he died due to mechanical asphyxiation.

    MSHA, PSP, and other agencies are handling the investigation.
