Now more great plans are happening. At the recent Township Committee's request, engineers presented an updated concept plan on July 9, 2024. The plan is for a 25,000-square foot recreational facility to replace the shuttered roller hockey rink in Veterans Park.

The township is seeking to build the facility with matching grants from the Monmouth County Municipal Open Space Grant Program. The presentation included information that in 2023, in the first of three phases, the township was awarded a $343,000 matching grant.

On July 11, 2024 the township submitted for the 2024 Monmouth County Municipal Open Space Grant Program for the second phase of the project. The preliminary design calls for a flexible layout that can accommodate Pickleball, a Multi-purpose ball court and Fitness area. The township is aggressively applying for additional grants to offset the cost. The goal is to have all the funds in place and building completed by 2027. Stay tuned for updates!
