Putters Paradise offers 'home for that moment'

The Navajo County Sheriff’s Office reported the following activity in Area 3 during the period of JUNE 10-15. Area 3 includes Heber, Overgaard, Aripine, Chevelon Retreat, Chevelon Acres, Antelope Valley, Clay Springs and Pinedale. Persons who were cited, charged or arrested by deputies are accused of committing criminal activity, but such accusations should raise no inference of guilt.
Snowflake-Taylor Police Department log, June 5-11
A parent called the Snowflake-Taylor Police Department around 11 a.m. to report that they had an agreement with their child about driving a car. The juvenile allegedly broke the agreement and drove off in a crazy manner.

CASA GRANDE — Barbara Jean "Bobbi" Lunsmann, 69, died on June 17, 2024, in Taylor. Mrs. Lunsmann was born on April 11, 1955, in Casa Grande. She enjoyed spoiling her grandkids, gardening, taking care of her pets, taking trips to Laughlin and riding quads.
Mary Lou Ulibarri
Mary Lou Ulibarri, 87, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 12, 2024, in Snowflake. She was born September 13, 1936, in McNary, Arizona. Mary Lou was preceded in death by daughter, Suzanne Barela (Severo, Jr.), son, Aaron George Ulibarri and her beloved husband, George. She is survived by sons, Norman Ulibarri (Sharon), Snowflake; Gabriel Ulibarri, Show Low, and daughter Cynthia Coor (Mike), Queen Creek; along with 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren who loved her dearly.
Greg Jarman
Greg Scott Jarman passed away June 12, 2024, at his home in Overgaard, Arizona. He was born December 25, 1967, in Spokane, Washington, to Sandra Clemens Parker and James Wesley Jarman. Greg lived in Arizona for the past 22 years and enjoyed his career as an electrician.
Charles “Charlie” Melvin Hatch
Charles “Charlie” Melvin Hatch, born February 22, 1952, in McNary, Arizona, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2024, in Phoenix, Arizona. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Chauncey and Fenla; and brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Ruth Hatch. Charlie is survived by: his wife, Kathleen “Kathi”; and son, Ryan Hatch; siblings, Florene (Bob) Terror, Rick (Julie), Roger (Shannon), and Melanie (Larry) Williams.

Bear Fire near Cibecue more than 80% contained
The Bear Fire, which is burning southwest of Cibecue, is more than 80% contained, according to the Bureau of Indian Affairs Forestry & Wildfire Management-Fort Apache Agency. The fire started June 8 and has burned more than 440 acres. Its cause is still under investigation. Command of the fire was transferred from the White Mountain Zone Type 3 Incident Management Team to a Type 4 organization around 7 a.m. on Monday, June 17.

Bear Fire Update: 43% Contained, Firefighters Strengthen Containment Lines Amid Changing Weather
Resources Assigned: 10 Crews, 2 Dozers, 4 Engines, 1 Helicopter, 4 Water Tenders. Operations: Fire behavior was moderated yesterday by cloud cover over the fire area which produced cooler temperatures and higher humidities. Firefighters were able to take advantage of the weather shift, accomplishing additional containment along the eastern flanks. Weather is expected to return to hot and drier conditions today which could result in an increase in fire activity. Firefighters will work to strengthen existing containment lines, extinguish hot spots, and look for opportunities to gain additional containment. The Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) module will aide ground crews in identifying remaining heat sources near the fires perimeter.
Bear Fire Update: 81% Contained, Command Transfer Scheduled
Resources Assigned: 6 Crews, 1 Dozer, 4 Engines, 1 Helicopter, 3 Water Tenders. Fire activity has moderated, and a large portion of the fire is now contained. Transfer of command from the White Mountain Zone Type 3 Incident Management Team (IMT) to the Type 4 organization will occur at 7 a.m. on June 17, 2024. This will be the final update on the Bear Fire from the White Mountain Zone IMT.

"Bear Fire Update: Firefighters Achieve Progress on Containment Efforts Near Cibecue, AZ"
Resources Assigned: 10 Crews, 2 Dozers, 4 Engines, 1 Helicopter, 4 Water Tenders. Operations: Firefighters were able to achieve containment on the southeast portion of the Bear Fire yesterday. The Black Fire has been completely lined and is showing no remaining heat sources. Crews will continue to monitor perimeters around the fire and extinguish any hot spots that may threaten control lines. The Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) module was able to identify areas that were holding heat yesterday and relayed that information to firefighting resources on the ground for suppression actions. The UAS module will continue to be a vital resource to ground crews for successful firefighting activities today.
