Chesterton man dies in crash on I-80/94 in Lake County
LAKE COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) - A Chesterton man has died after police say he crashed into the back of a box truck that was pulled over on an interstate in Lake County. The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. Saturday in the eastbound lanes on I-80/94 near the 8.0 mile-marker between Burr Street and Grant Street.
Hobart man acquitted in child molesting case; guilty of misdemeanor battery
A Hobart man got a split verdict Tuesday in a child molesting case. Carlos Villarreal, 39, of Hobart, was acquitted of child molesting but convicted on a misdemeanor battery charge, his lawyer Steve Haddad said. His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 15. Feds give Merrillville man nearly 8 years for selling cocaine
A federal judge sentenced a Merrillville man Thursday to 92 months — or nearly eight years — for selling cocaine, U.S. Attorney Clifford Johnson said in a release. Eric Crosslin, 37, signed a plea deal on one count of distribution of cocaine. He will serve three years on supervised release after prison. A house was razed by a fire this morning in West Wheatfield Township. Indiana County 911 initially dispatched Clyde, New Florence, and Bolivar firefighters, Citizens’ Ambulance and the RIT team to a home along Mulligan Hill Road around 5:09 this morning, with Armagh, Blacklick, Blairsville, Fairfield Township, Middle Taylor, and Homer City crews called in to assist between 5:16 and 6:30.
