    FAA, NTSB investigating helicopter crash near Hegins

    HEGINS, Pa. (WHTM) — Federal authorities are investigating a helicopter crash in Schuylkill County.

    First responders were called to Wood Lane in Hegins Township just north of the village of Hegins around 1 p.m. for a helicopter down.

    The Federal Aviation Administration said a helicopter struck a power line and went down in a cornfield in the township.

    Only the pilot was on board. His condition is not known as of Friday evening.

    Fire Police had Wood Lane closed at Deep Creek Road and East Mountain Road.

    Firefighters from Hegins Valley, Joliett, and Pitman were among the first responders.

    The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
