Officer-involved shootings involving Henderson PD, Metro

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Both Henderson and Las Vegas Metro Police were involved in separate shootings on Thursday.

On Thursday morning, Henderson Police responded to a call of an assault with a weapon near Sunset and Boulder Highway. Police say that a man and his mom had gotten into an argument and the son produced a gun.

When police showed up, the man fled on foot. A short distance away, they say the man pointed his weapon at police, who then fired and struck the man. He was taken to an area hospital with injuries that were said to be minor.

The incident involving Metro happened early Thursday afternoon near Ogden and 9 ^th . Police responded to a call about a man at an apartment complex that was in possession of a rifle and making threats.

Upon arrival, officers were met by the man, and demanded that the man dropped his weapon. Instead, they say, he pointed it at police. Officers then fired shots, killing the man at the scene.

No officers were hurt in either incident.
