Carson City, NV - The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles is temporarily suspending “Walk-In Wednesday” services at its Decatur, Flamingo, Sahara, and Henderson, and locations due to intense summertime heat. Starting July 10, metropolitan offices are moving Wednesday services to appointment-only until temperatures reach more typical levels, at which point Walk-In Wednesdays will resume.

The move also includes the main DMV office in Reno.

In order to accommodate customers who would usually visit on Wednesdays, the five offices will only open their books for Wednesday appointments on Tuesday afternoons. This affords customers the same accessibility to services as they would have if they arrived at the office on Wednesday morning and doesn’t allow Wednesday appointments to be booked a week ahead of time.

The DMV offers certain services – such as the issuance of movement permits, payment of debts, and some ID card services – without an appointment. These services will continue and remain unaffected.

The DMV’s “Walk-In Wednesdays” began in 2023 and allow customers to visit a major metropolitan office on Wednesdays without pre-scheduled appointments – instead, customers scan QR codes at the office to join a virtual queue which manages the office’s traffic.
