TVA seeks public comment on proposed solar project in Lauderdale County, Tennessee
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) wants to know what the public thinks about a proposed solar project in Lauderdale County. The Ripley II Solar Facility would be run by SR Ripley II, LLC, a subsidiary of Silicon Ranch Corporation. They said the facility would be on 194 acres of a 490-acre tract of land which is currently zoned for “High Density/Mobile Home and General Business.” The TVA said the area is mostly agricultural fields.
First Black woman exonerated in the state speaks to raise awareness about Tennessee Innocence Project
BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn — The first Black woman to be exonerated of a crime in the state is speaking in East Tennessee this week. Joyce Watkins is the featured speaker at back-to-back events hosted by the Tennessee Innocence Project, a nonprofit organization that focuses on exonerating people who've been convicted of a crime they never committed.
West Tennessee Veterans Coalition holds fish fry fundraiser
JACKSON, Tenn. — One fundraiser is helping the men and women who served. West Tennessee Veterans Coalition held a fish fry fundraiser this evening at VFW Post 6496. For $15 attendees were able to get a fried catfish plate. The money raised will help the post with some needed renovations, but it will also go towards helping our local veterans.
Union University announces new assistant basketball coach
JACKSON, Tenn. — Union University men’s basketball head coach, David Niven, has announced Tre Walton as the next assistant coach for the program. Walton was named the assistant coach for the Union University men’s basketball program in May 2024. Walton is in his first season with the Bulldogs.
