    Timmy Dillard of Henrico recently received the Boren Award from the National Security Education Office. Boren awards provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests and which are underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Dillard is a student at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.

    Gabe Jimerson of Glen Allen and Grady Rounds of Sandston were named to the spring 2024 dean’s list at Pennsylvania Western University. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.40 or higher.

    Gabriela Cruz of Glen Allen was named to the spring 2024 dean’s list at Berry College in Rome, Ga. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

    The following Henrico County students were named to the spring 2024 dean’s list at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala.: Divine Luhere, Joellen Konesco, Ava Michaux, Stephen Edds and John Whitlock. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

    Rachel Becker and Luke Smith of Glen Allen were named to the spring 2024 dean’s list at Union University in Jackson, Tenn. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a 3.5 grade point average for the semester.

    The following local students were named to the spring 2024 dean’s list at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn.: Emily Geanious and Charlotte Harrison, of Henrico; and Victoria Hughes and Mia Salvi, of Glen Allen. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a 3.5 grade point average for the semester.

    Andrew Baker of Glen Allen was named to the spring 2024 dean’s list at Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a grade point average of 3.00-3.74 for the semester.

    The following local students were named to the spring 2024 dean’s list at Bridgewater College in Virginia: Nash Barbuto, Lucas Bauer, Abigail Freeman, Sarah Henneberger, Autumn Just, Valerie Lutz, Robert Rhoden and Abigayle Zaudtke, of Glen Allen; Grace Elder, Johmae Miller, Parker Sale and Jackson Wicker, of Henrico; and Hannah Mahan, of Sandston. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.4 or higher.

    Madeline Edicola of Sandston was named to the spring 2024 president’s list at Davis & Elkins College in West Virginia. To be eligible for the president’s list, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average for the semester.

    Gov. Glenn Youngkin recently announced additional key administration and board appointments: Virginia Commonwealth University Health System Authority Board of Directors – Richard R. Grinnan of Henrico, senior vice president, chief legal officer and secretary of Markel Group Inc.; Real Estate Appraisers Board – Taneen Wyche of Henrico, rental housing analyst at Virginia Housing.
