Woman dies after jumping off Parham Road bridge into I-64 traffic

A woman is dead after jumping off the Parham Road bridge over I-64 into oncoming traffic on I-64 East, according to Henrico Police. It happened shortly after 6:30 a.m. Monday.

Police received a number of calls about a woman standing on the bridge, then responded and attempted dialogue with her, but she jumped.

No one else was injured in the incident, but police closed a portion of I-64 eastbound for about an hour between Gaskins and Parham roads. One lane reopened shortly before 8 a.m..
