MANITOWOC - Wisconsin Maritime Museum will host a sensory friendly event for people looking for a more relaxed museum experience, no matter their age or ability. Their families also are welcome to attend.

The free event will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 20 at the museum, 75 Maritime Drive.

Loud exhibit sounds will be turned down and sensory backpacks will be available during the event. The backpacks include visual schedules, weighted lap blankets, social narratives, headphones, fidgets and a communication book. The backpacks are always available at the museum.

At the Aug. 20 event, visitors will have access to the museum as well as a chance to take a sensory friendly submarine tour of the USS Cobia.
