Greg Buckley to step aside as Two Rivers city manager 30 years and 1 day after he started

MANITOWOC – Two Rivers City Manager Greg Buckley intends to retire next year and the City Council is starting the process of finding his successor.

Buckley's final day will be Aug. 8, 2025, which will make his entire tenure as city manager for Two Rivers 30 years and one day.

He started in the position Aug. 7, 1995.

The council passed a resolution to initiate the process of finding a new city manager during a meeting Aug. 19. The resolution states the following:

"It is appropriate now, nearly a year in advance of (Buckley's retirement), to begin planning for the recruitment and selection of a new city manager, in order to include necessary resources in the 2025 budget and to lay the groundwork for an effective recruitment, selection and hiring process to assure a smooth transition in this city leadership position."

The council established a four-person committee to search for a new city manager, which will then begin soliciting proposals from professional search firms with experience in local government executive recruitment. The committee consists of Council President Scott Stechmesser and the three Personnel and Finance Committee members, Bonnie Shimulunas, Adam Wachowski and Mark Bittner.
