CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – A Portageville, Missouri man faces assault and weapons charges in Carbondale. As Carbondale police officers conducted foot patrols in the 700 block of East Grand Avenue around 2 a.m. on July 20, someone in the area alerted officers that a male had threatened him/her with a handgun.
Professor Sharp Generosity Funds Another Museum
New York, N.Y. – James Franklin Sharp, after graduating from Chester High School in Chester, Illinois, attended nearby Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. In 2023, Professor Sharp made a major donation to SIU, and was honored by having the Sharp Museum at SIU named after him.
