Update 6:14pm: Governor Hochul says she has deployed the NYS Police and other agencies to help in Oneida County. As the heat index rose and the potential for storms grew, a tornado has been confirmed in Rome, NY - just north of Utica. Photos from the scene show a church with its roof and steeple torn off, numerous downed trees and power lines, overturned vehicles - even a B-52 bomber on display at the Air Force base was moved by the strong winds.

One person dead after dispute in Rome
ROME, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A Greig man is dead after a fight at a softball game in Rome led to a shooting, according to Rome Police. Officers were called to a softball tournament at Haselton-Wright Park in Rome at approximately 8:15 pm on Sunday, July 14. Upon their arrival, they met with board members of the softball league, who asked officers to remove a person — later identified as 34-year-old Theodore Chrystie of Greig in Lewis County. They were asking for his removal due to alleged disruptive behavior.
