PISCATAWAY, NJ – Administrators at Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY congratulated Srihari Yamunan, a Piscataway High School alum who graduated with distinction with a bachelor of science degree in environmental engineering. Yamunan was also named a Presidential Scholar for the 2024 Spring Semester for achieving a 3.80 grade point average during the 2024 Spring Semester. New York State Assemblyman Michael Durso, in partnership with Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino, Nassau County Legislator James Kennedy, and the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office, is holding a FREE Operation Safe Child ID Card Program on Saturday, July 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Marjorie Post Pool in Massapequa. Nassau County’s latest trans athlete ban draws lawsuits from AG, civil rights group
The New York attorney general and the New York Civil Liberties Union have sued a county on Long Island over its latest attempt to ban transgender females from playing on women’s sports teams at county facilities. The separate lawsuits were filed Monday. They came on the same day Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, a Republican, signed the policy into law, and months after a judge blocked a similar rule Blakeman put in place through an executive order. Both cases argue the ban violates state anti-discrimination laws. Blakeman said he was disappointed to learn of the lawsuits.

Meteorology professor discusses tornadoes in Western New York
Four tornadoes — two in Erie County, one in Chautauqua County and one in Genesee County — touched down in Western New York, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo. The strongest of those, an EF-2 that touched down in the Town of Eden, reached wind speeds of up to 115 mph and caused the “total destruction” of “multiple” buildings.
