The 29th Annual Pride of the Valley 5K Run & Walk will return to Baldwin Park on Saturday, Aug. 3, at Morgan Park (4100 Baldwin Park Blvd.). This summer tradition will include the Pride of the Valley 5K, the High School Road Race 5K, the half-mile Tike Trot and the Virtual Pride of the Valley 5K.

“The Pride of the Valley 5K is undoubtedly one of the most exciting summer events in Baldwin Park,” said Baldwin Park Mayor Emmanuel J. Estrada. “Now in its 29th year, this race not only promotes healthy habits for community members of all ages, it also offers a fast course that can be truly competitive. We’re thrilled to once again host this event that brings our community together in such a positive way. Whether you’re a seasoned runner looking to set a personal best or a family wanting to enjoy a fun morning out, this event is for you.”

The event will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the half-mile Tike Trot for participants 8 years old and younger. The Pride of the Valley 5K and the High School Road Race 5K — a 3.1-mile run/walk — will start at 8 a.m. The race begins and ends at Morgan Park. Participants will run north on Baldwin Park Boulevard, head east on Joanbridge Street and venture south along Maine Avenue before going west on Olive Street to head south once more along Baldwin Park Boulevard and toward the finish line at Morgan Park.

Online registration is currently available and will close on Saturday at 9 a.m. The city will also be accepting sign-ups at the event. Registration fees are $32.80 for either 5K (including virtual) and $22.20 for the Tike Trot. Each participant will receive a finisher’s medal upon crossing the finish line and may purchase a souvenir t-shirt while supplies last.

This USA Track & Field (USATF) sanctioned event will also feature an awards ceremony. Awards will be given to the top three finishers per age division, the top five finishers per high school age division and the top three Boys’ and Girls’ teams in the high school race. Overall, the first male and female Pride of the Valley 5K finishers will receive a cash prize. A cash bonus will be given to course record setters.

Runners can track their progress with chip timing in addition to splits at each mile. Following the run, event attendees are invited to a post-race party. There will be free refreshments and the awards ceremony.

Vehicular traffic along the course will be impacted during the race and shortly before and after the race, as well. For more information about Pride of the Valley 5K, call (626) 813-5245, Ext. 314 or email MCarrillo@baldwinpark.com.
