HICKORY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A lottery ticket purchased in Hickory by an Alabama resident ended up hitting for a big prize, North Carolina Lottery officials announced Thursday.

Alabama resident Christopher Baker bought $3 Quick Pick at Jack B. Quick on Old NC 10 and doubled his prize when he hit a multiplier.

“I just kept looking at it to make sure I was reading it right,” he laughed. “I told my family but they didn’t believe me either.”

After taxes Baker takes home $71,501 and plans on using some of the proceeds to buy a house.
