HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — The High Point Police Department charged two women with two counts of neglect each after an allegedly unsupervised child was hit by a car Saturday.

According to court documents, Monae Antoinette Jeffcoat, 30, of Winston-Salem and Erika Shevonne Hunt, 36, of High Point were each charged with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a Class 1 misdemeanor.

Around 4 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a crash in the 700 block of Wise Avenue and found a child hit by a car. They were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the women allowed a 2-year-old child and an 11-year-old child to play unsupervised in the roadway.

Jeffcoat and Hunt are scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 21, 2024.

No charges were filed against the driver in the crash.

FOX8 is working to obtain more information about this investigation.
