    Above and beyond: Here are Highland's scholar athletes for 2023-24

    The Mid-Hudson Athletic League recently honored its top senior student-athletes for each high school. Highland High School selected Grace Koehler and Alexander Papazov.

    Grace Koehler

    GPA: 102.81

    Class Rank: 4

    Varsity Sports: Basketball; Tennis; Golf

    Academic Honors/Extracurricular Activities: National Honor Society; Model UN; Science Olympiad; Book Club; Mathletes; Interact; Yearbook Club; Environmental Alliance; 2022 HOBY NYE Leadership Seminar

    Athletic Honors: Basketball: Team Captain, two-time MHAL Conference All-Star team, two-time BCANY All-Section, 2023-2024 BCANY Section IX Class B Player of the Year, five Varsity Letters; Tennis: 2023 MHAL Doubles Champion, five Varsity Letters; Golf: five Varsity Letters; 2023 NYSPHSAA Student Leadership Conference

    Academic Honors/Extracurricular Activities: Valedictorian; Science Olympiad Team Co-President; Future Medical Professionals Club President; National Honor Society; NYSBDA Honor Band 2023 1st Trombone Chair; Tri-M Music Honor Society; College Board AP Scholar with Distinction Award 2022 and 2023; College Board National Rural and Small Town Recognition Program 2022-2023; Scholar Award for Excellence in Academic Achievements; American Sign Language Club Founder at Highland High School (led workshops learning sign language in school and work on interacting with the local deaf community)
