US Marshal’s officers, Unified police on scene of Midvale SWAT operation to capture federal fugitive
MIDVALE, Utah, July 3, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A SWAT operation is underway in Midvale Wednesday afternoon in an attempt to capture a federal fugitive. “UPD is assisting the US Marshal’s on an apprehension of a Federal Fugitive in Midvale,” a Unified Police social media statement says.
Missing kayaker identified after body recovered at Little Dell Reservoir
SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Crews have recovered the body of a missing kayaker after she was seen falling into the waters at Little Dell Reservoir east of Salt Lake City. The individual was identified as 29-year-old Salt Lake City resident Hailey Mason, who was on the lake alone Tuesday when someone heard her calling for help around 2 p.m., Salt Lake County Sheriff Rosie Rivera said at a Wednesday media briefing.
Firefighters urge caution after target shooting sparks fire in red flag conditions
TOOELE — Target shooters sparked a brush fire Wednesday that quickly spread to more than 15 acres, firefighters said. According to Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands spokesman Karl Hunt, the target shooters called 911, and dispatchers got local, state, and federal crews out to the hillside northwest of Grantsville and southwest of Interstate 80.
Eagle Mountain road rage suspect who brandished gun located and identified
EAGLE MOUNTAIN — A suspect who had brandished a handgun in a road rage encounter was located and named by the Utah County Sheriff’s Office on Monday. The encounter took place just before 6:30 a.m. Thursday when deputies responded to a call reporting the road rage incident. When they arrived the victim told them the other driver pointed a handgun at him, and gave deputies a license plate number.
