Registration Still Open for Sunday's Long Branch Ocean Mile Swim
LONG BRANCH, NJ — The annual Long Branch Ocean Mile Swim is Sunday and if you're looking to take part, organizers say you have to register in advance. The race starts and ends at Pier Village, and it follows a rectangular course. Plenty of racing action took place throughout the Mid-Atlantic this past week. Here’s a look at the “three stars” of each track:. FIRST STAR: SCALABLE. The Saturday feature at Monmouth Park was the Grade 3 Monmouth Oaks at 1 1/16 miles on dirt. Black-Eyed Susan Stakes winner Gun Song went off as the the 3-2 favorite, and rated three-wide off the pace int he early stages. She briefly led in the stretch, but Scalable, previously 0-for-3 in stakes company, gobbled up ground in the stretch under Paco Lopez and got up to win by three-quarters of a length. It was her third career victory in six starts, and her second win in a row, following a victory against first-level company at Churchill Downs last out. She covered the distance in 1:44.71 for owner Repole Stable and trainer Todd Plecher.
