Op-Ed: If NJ wants more teachers, it must do more to convince young people like me
An NJ student says many teachers face a lack of respect, poor pay and poor working conditions. Editor’s note: NJ Spotlight News and Rowan University teamed up on a project this spring to amplify New Jersey’s youth voices and perspectives on important public policy topics. The project involved students in the university’s first-year writing program, each assigned to write an op-ed. This is the second of two that Rowan faculty and NJ Spotlight News chose as exemplars. Test calling ISIS terrorists sparks trouble for NJ school superintendent
WAYNE — Parents are holding a school superintendent's feet to the fire after he apologized for a test question that called ISIS an Islamic terror group. The multiple choice question was part of a quiz in a seventh-grade class at Schuyler-Colfax Middle School in Wayne, according to the group Teaching While Muslim.
TCNJ to provide room and board to local community college students
EWING — Come the fall semester, the housing situation at The College of New Jersey will be different than ever before. TCNJ and Mercer County Community College have worked out a deal where TCNJ will provide room and board to its students, according to a release from MCCC. The partnership “for the Fall 2024 semester and beyond” will also offer MCCC students special rates for the accommodation.

Elizabeth Student Participates In Rutgers STEM Ambassador Program
ELIZABETH, NJ - An Elizabeth student was among several from Union County to participate in Rutgers University’s 4-H STEM Ambassador Program. The event was held at Rutgers University in New Brunswick from July 8 through July 12. The program aims to train students to lead STEM activities and share their skills with their peers.
