Funk’s running future is bright
Someone find the crystal ball that features the Hillsboro High girls 3,200-meter relay. Their future, you see, is as bright as a sterling Kansas sunset in June. “The 4×8 team had a really great season this year,” incoming junior Quinlyn Funk said. “Our usual order was (2023-24) sophomore Jaidyn Frantz, her split was a 2:40. I ran second and my split was a 2:31. Freshman Riley Richert ran third with a split of 2:33. Sophomore Addison Jost finished for us running a 2:25. Our final time was 10:13 which was another personal best.”

WICHITA, Kan. (TaborBlueJays.com) – ESPN Wichita 92.3 has released the finalists for their Honorary ESPYs Awards, presented by UBuildIt Wichita and INTRUST Bank. Alyvia Owens has been named a finalist for Small College Female Athlete of the Year after helping lead the Lady Bluejays to the 2024 Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) regular season title in Women’s Basketball, the 2024 KCAC Women’s Basketball tournament title, and a berth in the 2024 NAIA Women’s Basketball tournament. Owens led the Bluejays in scoring, averaging 11.6 points per game, while shooting an incredible 52.1% from the field and 33.3% from three-point range. Owens brought in 4.7 boards per game and snagged 1.7 steals in addition to her performance on offense.
