A Hillsboro bar and grill is shutting down its taps for good.

Hops n Drops announced the permanent closure of its Tanasbourne restaurant on Northeast Evergreen Parkway, effective 10 p.m. Friday, July 19.

The sports-bar-style chain, renowned for its signature beers and "drop" cocktails served in icy glasses, first opened its doors in Washington County in 2022.

"It saddens us, but we have decided to close this location," the company said in a release.

Chief Executive Officer Kevin Eggen cited low sales as the primary reason for the closure.

"We have loved being a part of this community for the past two years. We have made a lot of friends but the sales level is not where it needs to be for us to continue to grow as a company,” Eggen said in a statement.

The current Tanasbourne location employs 22 staff members, many of whom the company anticipates will transfer to other Hops n Drops locations.

Although the doors are shuttering in Tanasbourne, the restaurant won’t be leaving the area for good. According to Eggen, the company will be opening a new location in Hillsboro’s Reed Crossing in spring 2025.

Hops n Drops operates 21 locations across Washington, Colorado and Oregon; remaining local restaurants include bars in Sherwood, Happy Valley and Keizer.

"Between now and July 19th, we hope our guests will visit us, say goodbye and enjoy that one last icy drop or ice cold beer with us! We want to thank them for their support," the restaurant said.
