NC State Legend Julius Hodge Named Head Coach at Lincoln University
NC State Legend Julius Hodge has been named the Head Coach at Lincoln University. This marks Hodge’s first stint as a Head Coach. Hodge has been in the Coaching world since 2015, when he served as Director of Player Development at the University of Buffalo under Bobby Hurley. Then, he spent 2016 and 2017 as an Assistant Coach under Herb Sendek at Santa Clara. From 2018-20, Hodge served as an Assistant Coach at San Jose State. Hodge has spent the past three seasons as an Assistant Coach at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Brock Purdy connects with unlikely target in 49ers training camp video
The 49ers on Wednesday had their first training camp practice of the year. With it came our first bits of practice footage. San Francisco posted on its official team account a video of quarterback Brock Purdy making a throw on a deep out. Oakland Restaurant Burglarized For 7th Time in Past 4 Years
A popular Oakland restaurant is making repairs after yet another break-in. The owner of Kitchen Story says he’s been hit seven times in the last four years. The latest happened yesterday before the business opened. Surveillance video shows a suspect trying to get into an office where money and iPads are kept and then running off. Nothing was taken this time but the front door was damaged.

Woman found fatally shot in East Oakland overnight
A female victim was shot and killed in East Oakland early Thursday morning, according to police. Officers were called to the area of International Boulevard between 20th and 21st avenues at about 2 a.m. to investigate reports of a shooting. When they got to the scene, they found the victim, described by police simply as "a female," lying in the street.She was pronounced dead at the scene and her name and age have not been released.Anyone with information is asked to call OPD homicide investigators at (510) 238-3821 or a tip line at (510) 238-7950.Any videos or photos that might help with the investigation can be sent to cidvideos@oaklandca.gov.

Car goes off Grizzly Peak, occupants largely unscathed
Oakland police are investigating a solo collision on Grizzly Peak on Wednesday night that sent a vehicle off the roadway down a steep embankment. Limited details were available as of publication time, but the driver called police at about 9:20 p.m. asking for help after the crash, which took place near Grizzly Peak Boulevard and Golf Course Drive.
Intuitive’s president is now also on the board
Rosa’s appointment, made yesterday, makes him the second Intuitive executive to hold a seat on the company board, after CEO Gary Guthart. The surgical robotics pioneer — the dominant company in the space — promoted Rosa into the president role last year. Rosa is a 27-year veteran of the company who has held leadership positions across multiple functions, including product development, commercial operations, and clinical and regulatory affairs. He presently in charge of the company’s business unit, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, and commercial operations. In addition, he is board chair of Intuitive-Fosun, the joint venture between Intuitive and Shanghai-based Fosun Pharma.

LeRonne Armstrong and another OPD chief were investigated and faulted for leadership failures
The Oaklandside has learned that the city of Oakland quietly investigated how former Oakland police chief LeRonne Armstrong and his immediate successor Darren Allison handled explosive allegations of perjury and bribery by an OPD homicide detective. The city’s investigation, carried out by the Police Commission’s Community Police Review Agency and an outside law firm, found that Armstrong and Allison failed to ensure OPD’s internal affairs division rigorously and fairly examined the accusations against the detective. Investigators concluded Armstrong and Allison both fell short in their authorities and responsibilities as commanding officers.
San Pablo police arrest 2, seize 72 guns and crossbow in recent cases
San Pablo police took 72 guns and a crossbow out of the hands of two alleged violent offenders last week in separate cases. The first case began at about 8:30 p.m. on July 12 in a residence in the 1300 block of Road 20, though it wasn't reported until July 17.A suspect allegedly locked his girlfriend and her kids in a room for four days and threatened to shoot them. Police said they escaped and officers arrested the man on suspicion of domestic violence, kidnapping, false imprisonment, and criminal threats.
