Montgomery, Pa. — Two men were charged after they engaged in a mutually-agreed fight in Montgomery, police said. Brandon Michael Buck, 24, of Hughesville argued with Aiden Elijah Schwenk-Probst, 18, of Muncy near a home in the 60 block of E. Houston Avenue, Trooper Dylan Houser said. Benton, Pa. — An investigation into a Benton fire led to charges being filed against a local man who admitted to setting it intentionally, police said. Eric Michael Kocher, 44, told his neighbors “I’m sending it your way” while standing in front of the fire with a rake at the end of April, Corporal Zachary Martini said. Donald M. “Donnie” Frey, 61
Donald M. “Donnie” Frey, 61, of Hughesville, died Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at The Gatehouse at Divine Providence, Williamsport. Born May 22, 1963, in Muncy, he was a son of Gary Frey and the late Virginia (Burrows) Frey. He was a 1981 graduate of Montoursville High School and served in the US Air Force. Donnie was employed at Economy Locker Storage Co., Pennsdale, making Scrapple for the company. He also worked at Old Fort Nursery, Muncy, for his Uncle Linford “Spike” Frey. Donnie loved to golf at local golf courses, bowling, and playing darts. He and his brother Kevin won many dart tournaments where they lived in Florida and Pennsylvania. Donnie enjoyed sports and was a die-hard fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, the New York Jets, and the New York Yankees. He was a member of the Edward J. Smith Post #3428, V.F.W. Muncy, and the Muncy American Legion.

John W. Livezey, Sr., 76, of New Albany, Pennsylvania died Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. Born March 1, 1948, in Croydon, PA, he was a son of the late John K. and Dolores (McIlvaine) Livezey. He and his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” M. (Craven) Livezey, celebrated 55 years together having married on May 17, 1974. John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed fast cars, guns, hunting, tractors, and tinkering in his shop. He loved animals and has raised many types of animals over the years, from a silver fox and monkey to pigs and chickens. Family was important to John, as he came from a big family, but John loved spending his time with both his family and his friends. He particularly enjoyed sharing a laugh in his garage or talking over a cup of coffee.
Williamsport Bureau of Police to host National Night Out
Williamsport, Pa. — Just a couple of days after the Lycoming Regional Police Department's National Night Out events, the Williamsport Bureau of Police will have a Night Out of their own. Chander resigns from Penn College
Pankil Chander has stepped down as head coach at Penn College after two seasons to take another coaching position. He coached the team to its first ever winning dual meet record as an NCAA institution and first ever NCAA qualifier. He had previously coached at Springfield College and Gettysburg College before taking his first head coaching job at Penn College for the 2022-2023 season. The Wildcats joined the AMCC as an associate member in 2023 and finished as the conference runner-up. Penn College has begun a search for his replacement.
Lycoming County Commissioners: Opioid settlements, equipment grants, and phone scams
Williamsport, Pa. — During Thursday's meeting, the Lycoming County Commissioners discussed new funding and grant applications and addressed phone scams and safety. The County Commissioners voted and approved several agenda items at Thursday's morning meeting. Director of Admission, Matt McDermott, presented one of the meeting’s bigger agenda items: ratifying Wave Two Settlements, which is money allocated for the purpose of addressing the opioid epidemic. James V. Brown Library reveals seventh Little League pin
Williamsport, Pa. — The James V. Brown Library has released its seventh Little League trading pin. The library has created pins for the past seven years, with this year's pin, "BOOK hits a homerun" designed by Jamie Mahoney, the library’s graphic artist. For sale now, the pins are $5 each and can be purchased by cash or check at the library’s help desk. All pins can be purchased with cash or check. A small number of 2023 pins are available for $3 each. All proceeds from the pin sales support the library.
