The Kendall County Coroner’s Office has identified the human skeletal remains found by Yorkville work crews in May as a woman between 18 and 25 years old who died in the mid-1800s, officials announced on Monday. IDNR Shuts Down Recreational Boating On Fox River
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has temporarily shut down recreational boating on the Fox River, according to a letter posted by the IDNR today. High water levels, swift currents, floating debris and submerged structures in the Fox all contributed to the decision, which was recommended by Cpt Joshua Mooi of the IDNR and approved by Director Natalie Phelps-Finnie.

Road and Sidewalk Work to Begin Monday on Dayton and East Center Streets in Sandwich
Sandwich City Hall says road and sidewalk work is starting Monday on Dayton Street between Route 34 and Lions Road and on East Center Street from Main Street to Latham Street. The streets are being repaved, and new sidewalks are being poured. The roads will stay mostly open when possible, but sidewalks will be closed. Residents are asked not to drive over newly poured sidewalks in front of their driveways for a minimum of 72 hours and not to walk on them for at least 24 hours. People parking on the street will need to find alternative parking while work is being done in front of their homes.

Oswego Village Board approves payoff of $3 million in bonds from Dougals Road project
The Oswego Village Board voted to approve a decision to pay off three million dollars in bonds using funds from the general fund surplus, according to a press release. The general fund surplus is from fiscal year 2024, which ran from May 1, 2023 to April 30, and had an active balance of just over six million dollars.
Different votes from trustees occur for next Oswego residential development
In the vote for a new housing development on Harvey Road on Oswego’s eastern edge, two Oswego village board trustees had slightly different votes this week. Both Karin McCarthy-Lange and Kit Kuhrt voiced their concern over density of housing per acres of the Hudson Point Two subdivision. On the 81 acres, 144 single family homes and 87 two-story townhomes in 19 buildings will be constructed.
