Ravenna time capsule collection to run through Sept. 27
There's still time to submit contributions to Ravenna's time capsule. The city of Ravenna has extended the deadline to submit items to be included in the time capsule that is tied to its 225th anniversary. Items now can be submitted through Sept. 27, said Chelsea Gregor, clerk of Ravenna City Council and president of Main Street Ravenna.
Fourth of July: Bedford and Bedford Heights celebrate American independence with 39th annual parade
BEDFORD, Ohio — Bedford and Bedford Heights celebrated the Fourth of July on Thursday by hosting their 39th annual Independence Day parade. The parade, also representing Oakwood and Walton Hills, began at 10 a.m. at Columbus and Washington Street and stretched on for about 2.5 miles, concluding at Bedford Heights City Hall on Perkins Road. Despite the high temperatures and humidity, spectators came prepared with umbrellas, fans, and water to stave off the heat.

New grant to trim cost of sewer work in Ravenna Township's Chinn Allotment
RAVENNA TWP. − Homeowners in the Chinn Allotment stand to save a little more money on a pricey sewer project in Ravenna Township, thanks to another grant toward the project. Daniel Blakely, director of Portage County Water Resources, said the department applied for $500,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds toward the Chinn Allotment, which he said would lower the cost by about $2,000 to each "benefit user." Residents now are facing a $16,000 assessment per lot, plus additional fees for things such as tying into the system.

Summit County Asks for Public Comments on Ravenna Road Resurfacing Project
The Summit County Engineer’s Office has proposed to resurface Ravenna Road within Twinsburg Township and the City of Hudson. Work includes pavement repairs, resurfacing and adding 4 feet wide shoulders where possible. The project begins in the City of Hudson at the Summit-Portage County border and ends at Old Mill Rd in Twinsburg Township. The project length is 1.36 miles total with 0.74 miles in Hudson and 0.62 miles in Twinsburg Township.
Stow-Munroe Falls schools approve placing 8.89-mill, 35-year bond issue on fall ballot
The Stow-Munroe Falls school board on Monday approved sending ballot language to the Summit County Board of Elections for an 8.89-mill, 35-year bond issue in November.
