Russellville adult softball summer series ends
The Russellville Park and Recreation adult softball program gathered for its last game July 27 at the John Blackwell Sports Complex across from Sloss Lake. The park welcomed its usual Tuesday players along with an additional team this week. Games continued until after dark. Even after scheduled play was over, two of the teams stayed to play one last game for fun. The program has continued to grow in popularity over its course, welcoming two teams the first two Tuesdays, three the third week and four to conclude this month’s season. One Tuesday in the month was canceled because of rain.
Russellville football booster club hosts golf tournament
The Russellville High School football booster club hosted a golf tournament fundraiser at Twin Pines Country Club Aug. 2. Golfers in teams of four players each had the chance to show their skills on the course while supporting the football program. “Golf is a fun way to get everybody involved,” Russellville head football coach Dustin Goodwin said. “We had coaches playing, we had players playing and then we had members of the community playing. I always think it’s a great event.”
