After starring as a quarterback at Hoover High School in Alabama, Ashford traveled west to play for the Oregon Ducks in 2020. Ryan Williams, a former five-star wide receiver from Saraland (Ala.) High School, has caught everyone’s attention in fall camp. The 6-foot-1 speedster added 10 pounds to his frame, going from 165 to 175.

He has highlighted the importance of tight ends for Alabama’s offense in fall camp, but will Kalen DeBoer push for the development of that position?. The tight end room has looked confident, athletic, and physical through six practices. CJ Dippre, a second-year player for the Crimson Tide, is the leader in the room after he transferred in from Maryland in 2023. Robbie Ouzts, a senior, is an exceptional blocker, but he also possesses soft hands in the passing game. Danny Lewis and Ty Lockwood are very athletic weapons, while Josh Cuevas — a transfer from Washington — knows DeBoer’s system. Jay Lindsey, a freshman, has a lot of potential.
Some Say Higher Wages Needed to Retain Piedmont City Workers
A very delicate situation with city workers has developed in Piedmont. City workers are leaving for other nearby businesses for higher wages. Tim Frost, Street and Sanitation Supervisor, brought this to the attention of the Council, City Clerk and Mayor a month ago. Right now, the starting wage for an employee is $11.50 per hour. They would like to bump that to $15.00 an hour.

Huntsville pediatrician in practice for nearly 30 years passes away
A pediatrician who practiced for nearly 30 years in Huntsville has passed away. Dr. Charles R. Horton, Jr., cared for thousands of local children during the 27 years he worked as managing partner of Twickenham Pediatrics. Horton was also a clinical instructor and assistant professor at the University of Alabama Medical School Huntsville campus. He also served as the president of the Madison County Medical Society.
