BARTLETT, Ill. — A suburban man was charged after allegedly beating a woman and then kidnapping her across state lines.

Christopher Krontiris, 25, of Hoffman Estates, is facing charges of aggravated kidnapping, home invasion with a dangerous weapon and aggravated domestic battery.

The investigation began after a 24-year-old woman was reported missing by her family on Saturday. Police believe the woman and Krontiris were at a bar in Hanover Park when they got into a verbal altercation.

Krontiris was removed from the bar by police and the woman returned to a home in Bartlett that she was housesitting at the time.

When she returned there, police allege Krontiris was waiting for her and physically attacked her.

The woman was beaten, pushed into a wall, choked and dragged, according to police.

Police allege Krontiris cut the woman’s forehead and back with a knife and then forced her into a vehicle with the knife. Krontiris then allegedly drove to Michigan and Michigan City while telling the woman that he was going to rape and kill her.

He was taken into custody in Michigan City. Krontiris was denied pre-trial release.
