Fireworks bring added risk during high fire season

Cal Fire and Hollister Fire Department both advise that with hot, dry, windy weather and an abundance of fuel, more fires are likely throughout this fire season. The National Weather service has issued a heat advisory and a red flag fire warning for San Benito County.

County, city officials seek to create fire district
After the Hollister City Council voted to terminate its fire service contract with San Juan Bautista and San Benito County last month, local officials are looking into the creation of a new fire protection district as part of ongoing negotiations. The existing contracts will remain in effect until March 2025.
