T-Boz is opening up about her recent medical scare, detailing the circumstances that led to the cancellation of TLC’s tour shows.

As previously reported, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins experienced a medical emergency just before the group’s scheduled performance on August 23 at the New York State Fair. An official statement from TLC explained, “Shortly after arriving in Syracuse, Tionne ‘T-Boz’ Watkins experienced sudden and severe nausea, vomiting, and intense abdominal cramps. She was immediately seen by a doctor and subsequently taken to the hospital for further evaluation.”

The statement went on to clarify that the doctor concluded this was not food poisoning but rather an abdominal blockage. T-Boz expressed her deep regret over the cancellation, offering sincere apologies to her fans and the event promoters. The decision to cancel was made on the advice of her physician, who recommended that she remain hospitalized overnight to undergo a CT scan to evaluate the severity of her condition.

In a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, T-Boz elaborated on her medical scare, emphasizing that such health issues can affect anyone. She also clarified that her condition is not related to Ozempic and has nothing to do with her history of sickle cell disease.

T-Boz has faced significant health challenges since the age of seven, when a doctor informed her that she would likely never have children and might not live beyond 30. At 28, she was finally diagnosed with sickle cell disease.

    What is Sickle Cell?

Sickle cell disease is a genetic blood disorder characterized by the production of abnormal hemoglobin, known as hemoglobin S. This abnormality causes red blood cells to become rigid, sticky, and shaped like a sickle or crescent moon, rather than the normal round shape. As a result, these sickle-shaped cells can get stuck in blood vessels, leading to blockages that cause pain, organ damage, and increased risk of infections.

The disease is inherited in an autosomal recessive pattern, meaning that a person must inherit two copies of the sickle cell gene (one from each parent) to have the disease. If a person inherits only one copy, they typically have sickle cell trait, which usually does not cause symptoms but can be passed on to children.

Despite these obstacles, she has maintained a positive outlook throughout her journey. T-Boz has welcomed children and continues to pursue her passion for performing for her dedicated fans.
