Hawaii airport gets a new lease on life
HONOLULU — A new 50-year lease at Kawaihāpai Airfield (PHDH), formerly known as Dillingham Airfield, assures the continued operation of the airport. The lease went into effect July 6, 2024, according to officials with the Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT), resolving many of the problems that had put the airfield in danger.

Kaua‘i Shrimp acquired by O‘ahu-based company Aloun Farms
Kauaʻi Shrimp has been acquired by O‘ahu-based company Aloun Farms, bringing ownership of the Kekaha business into the state of Hawaiʻi while preserving its 31 local jobs. Until now, Kauaʻi Shrimp has most recently been owned by Netherlands-based corporation Hendrix Genetics. Kaua‘i Shrimp produces over half a million pounds of Pacific white leg shrimp every year on its 238-acre farm on the West Side of the Garden Isle. The shrimp – which are shipped fresh, chilled or frozen – are locally grown, harvested, processed and packaged.
