Victim identified in deadly Holyoke shooting on West Street

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – The victim of a deadly shooting on West Street in Holyoke last week has been identified.

On Wednesday, July 9th at around 11:22 p.m. Holyoke officers were called to the 50 block area of West Street for a Shotspotter activation. Upon arrival, officers found an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Baystate Medical Center along with two others who were shot.

According to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office, 38-year-old Dexter Ortiz of Holyoke died due to his injuries, and the two other people are expected to recover.

No arrests have been made public at this time.
