HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – The annual summer nights program begins Wednesday in Holyoke.

“Summer Nights” program returning for 10th year

This will mark the tenth year of the statewide program that plans free events for young people while they’re on a summer break from school. They typically offer activities like sports arts and crafts and life skills workshops.

Governor Maura Healey will be joined by Energy & Environmental Affairs Secretary Rebecca Tepper, DCR Commissioner Brian Arrigo, Holyoke Mayor Joshua Garcia and local officials at Boys & Girls Club of Greater Holyoke located at 70 Nick Cosmos Way in Holyoke beginning at 3:45 p.m. to kick off the event.

Families are welcome to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Holyoke for organized sports and games including basketball, volleyball, and lawn games in the park. The event is held every Tuesday and Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. through August 20th.

The governor’s administration says they’ve steered around $3 million toward the DCR program this year and that it’ll make it the biggest year yet.
