HONOLULU (KHON2) — It’s a chance to shop local all while supporting our keiki. The Keiki Makers Market is happening this Sunday.

Student entrepreneurs in grades K-12 will be selling their own business products at the Children’s Discovery Center.

From jewelry and clothes to stickers and home décor, your support will help them grow as both business owners and the upcoming generation of leaders.

“The Keiki Makers Market is a student entrepreneurship program dedicated to making entrepreneurship education, resources, and mentorship accessible to Hawaii’s students. Essentially, our program is all about nurturing the curiosity, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit of our Keiki and empowering them in their endeavors. Whether they have an idea for a business they want to start or already have an existing business that they want to take to the next level, the Keiki Makers Market is here to provide them with the tools to grow as both business owners and lifetime leaders,” Founder Taylor Yuen said.

This is the second year of the market.

“I started the Keiki Makers Market last year to provide a platform for students to share their talents and pursue their entrepreneurial interests in a safe and supportive space. In 2023, we had over 75 students participate in our four events, which are open to students from all schools, all grades, and all business types,” Yuen said.

While the event begins this Sunday, Yuen added that isn’t your only opportunity to check it out.

“This Sunday, July 7 we will be hosting our Summer Keiki Makers Market from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Children’s Discovery Center. So, feel free to come down and bring your family and friends to support our student entrepreneurs. And if you aren’t able to join us this time, we will be having another Keiki Makers Market on Saturday, August 10 at SALT Kakaako,”
