Kamehameha grad, Skye Realin continues to make a name for herself on the wrestling mat.

Realin competed in the U-23 Pan American Wrestling Championships in Columbia. The Hawaii wrestler competed in the 59kg Women’s bracket and came in as the 6th seed into the tournament.

The standout wrestler taking down every opponent in her path, including the 3-seed in the finals.

Realin pinned her finals opponent to secure the first place finish.

“I ended up pinning her in like the 2nd period which was relieving, and I pinned her, and I took a minute and was like ‘Oh, I just did that’. And then I got to run around the mat with the U.S. flag so that was also really fun,” said Realin.

Being able to represent her country and her home islands on a stage like a Pan-Am event, is something she says she won’t take for granted.

“It’s really special, like being like a small island girl, being able to represent my whole country, like not only my island, but like my whole country. It’s really, It’s just amazing, it’s such a nice experience to have just to know that, there is talent here on the islands and its nice to broadcast them to the world,” said Realin.

Realin did also qualify for the U23 World Wrestling Championship via a finish at an earlier tournament in the year. She will head to Albania in October to compete in the world tournament.
