    Salt Lake car fire: Female victim identified, cause determined accidental

    HONOLULU (KHON2) — According to the Honolulu Police Department, around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, officers discovered a body in a vehicle that was on fire.

    The incident happened on Malaai Street and Lawehana Road.

    HPD said they were responding to a vehicle fire call when they found the body after the Honolulu Fire Department extinguishing the flames.

    HFD and the ATF were all on scene investigating.

    The incident is being investigated as an unattended death.

    HPD said it appears that the vehicle was a lunch wagon that was parked along the side of the road.

    According to HPD, it was determined that the victim was a female.

    The autopsy conducted Saturday, revealed that she did not sustain any traumatic injuries.

    Fire investigators concluded that the cause of the fire is accidental.

    HPD said evidence is still being examined and surveillance is being recovered and review.

    The investigation is ongoing as of Sunday.
