The Fourth of July is a big time for veterans but in the midst of celebrating some who’ve experienced traumatic events can have flashbacks. VA Supervisory Social Worker for Mental Health, Melissa Evans says that last year the Birmingham area VA health system treated roughly 12,000 veterans with PTSD.
UAB breaks ground on $190 million facility
The University of Alabama at Birmingham has broken ground on a $190 million facility for the Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine and the College of Arts and Sciences. The Biomedical Research and Psychology Building will house research faculty from the Heersink School of Medicine and the Department of Psychology.
