Q&A with Kaden Thompson: Honoring Lumbee culture through youthful creativity
By exploring major historical events of his people, 19-year-old Lumbee author Kaden Thompson is bringing his cultural identity to the forefront of his creative work. The Robeson County native has self published three books in his young career, two of which explore flashpoints of the Lumbee tribe. With each story he examines how events of the past, including the Lowry War and the Battle of Hayes Pond, continue to shape the tribe today.

Lumbee culture class is cancelled till the end of summer. Culture classes will resume on September 9, 2024. This break will give our families that attend classes some time for family vacations, summer camps and back-to-school events. We are working on a series of workshops for the fall. Those will be announced in the coming weeks. Sorry for the inconvenience and enjoy the rest of your summer.

Tatum brings Lt. Governor to Caswell County
On Monday, July 8, Caswell GOP Chairman Cody Tatum, hosted a fundraiser for Lt. Governor and Candidate for Governor, Mark Robinson, at the Yanceyville Municipal Building. When attending the NCGOP Convention in May, Tatum had the opportunity to meet Robinson. During their conversation they immediately struck up a friendship. In the days after their initial meeting they had several phone and text conversations and decided to plan an event in Caswell County. Tatum said, “Meeting Lt. Governor Robinson has been one of the highlights of my life. Robinson is an inspirational figure and a leading voice in defense of our Constitutional Rights and liberties.
