Alcohol Banned at These Lake Tahoe Hotspots During Fourth of July Weekend
Planning to celebrate the Fourth of July with a beer on the beach at Lake Tahoe? Be prepared for some restrictions. Alcohol is banned at three of Lake Tahoe’s most popular beaches for the holiday. Officials have prohibited alcohol at Nevada Beach and Zephyr Cove Resort on July Fourth. Additionally, public consumption is banned at Chambers Landing in Tahoma for the entire holiday weekend, from July 3-7.

Genoa, Nev. — Stage 1 fire restrictions are in effect for the Carson and Bridgeport ranger districts starting today, for pretty obvious reasons. Minden hasn’t seen a drop of rain since May 14. Last month was one of 20 Junes since 1906 not to see any rain in the county seat. Eight of those have been in the first quarter of the 21st Century.
Log hauling begins in Thornburg Canyon
Over the next couple of weeks, log hauling will begin on Thornburg Canyon Road (Forest Service Road 071) near Hot Springs Road in Markleeville. Mooretown Rancheria of Concow Maidu Indians of California are removing the log decks on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest’s Carson Ranger District that were created from the 2021 Tamarack Fire restoration efforts.
Valley celebrates Fourth with outdoor activities
Patriotic celebrations in Carson Valley get a running start Thursday in Gardnerville with the Freedom 5K Fun Run at Heritage Park. “This has continued to be a community favorite and widely supported,” said Main Street Gardnerville Program Director Jen Tune. “I like to say it is the most patriotic run on this side of the mountains.”
