Chemung County Fair to return for 182nd year

HORSEHEADS, N.Y. ( WETM ) — The Chemung County Fair will be back in Horseheads in just one week.

The Chemung County Fairgrounds will be filled with rides, games, vendors, livestock exhibits, and live entertainment from Wednesday, July 31, through Saturday, Aug. 3. The fair will be open from noon until 10 p.m., and the midway will be open from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. every day.

Admission for people aged 17 and older will cost $2, and kids and teens aged 16 and younger can get in for free. Veterans will have free admission on Wednesday, seniors (people aged 55 and older) can enter for free on Thursday, first responders will get free entry on Friday, and Saturday will be free for everyone. All-day ride wristbands will cost $25. Veterans, seniors, and first responders can save $5 on their wristbands on their respective free admission days, and vendors will be giving them some discounts as well.

Every day of the fair will have the same free entertainment. Visitors can watch magic shows, hypnotist shows, local musicians, and chainsaw carver, blacksmith, and sawmill demonstrations. Since this is an agricultural fair, there will be barns filled with cows, pigs, goats, rabbits, chickens, and more.

Each day will also have special paid events. Attendees can catch a demolition derby on Wednesday, and Thursday will have a few events: the Oakridge Boys will perform, there will be a car show, and people can play Bingo. Friday will feature a truck pull and fireworks, and Saturday will have a few pulling events.
