HOUGHTON, Mich. (WJMN) – Michigan Technological University (MTU) and the Keweenaw Peninsula are home to many people of ethnic and cultural diversities.

MTU holds its Parade of Nations event every year, with this year being on Saturday, September 21. The university needs the community and local businesses to help volunteer or be a food vendor for the event.

“You can get involved by walking a flag. It could be representative of their country of origin, or any country that you feel has a relation to. It could be by creating a float and participating. It could be by volunteering. If you own a business, a food business, you could come and have booth with us at the multicultural side of the event, which is at the Dee Stadium,” said Parade of Nations Co-chair Mariana Nakashima.

The 35th Parade of Nations and Multicultural Food Festival is on September 21 in Houghton.
The parade begins at 11 a.m. with the festival beginning at noon. If you would like to volunteer for the event or participate in the parade, click here . If you would like to register a food booth, click here .
